Roadsafety welcomed in Castlecomer

A safety scheme on the N78 at Kilkenny Street in Castlecomer was welcomed by a large amount of members at Kilkenny’s monthly area municipal meeting, the Kilkenny People reports.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland identified the site as ‘a high collision location’ based on road statistics and traffic volumes.

A presentation mas made for members and highlighted the feasibility design which includes safety measures at six locations including; two signalised crossings, one upgrade to an existing crossing, two improvements made to junctions, and planters and benches across wide footpaths.

The chairman of the Castlecomer Municipal District, said that while he welcomed the safety measures, he was surprised that they hadn’t gone even further with the improvements and that actions need to be done in relation to the junction at Glanbia.

All improvements were welcomed by those who attended.
